All members are very welcome, you don’t have to own a Mini Cooper – any mini will do! It doesn’t matter if you turn up without your mini either….just come along for a drink and a chat with other members. If you have any technical queries about your minis then there is bound to be somebody at the meeting who can help you. NEXT MEETING – 27th February HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE! It seems that all club stand places at Brooklands Mini Day 24th March 2019 have now been taken up although it’s worth being on the reserve list, just in case, please contact Ken Hunter: kenneth.hunter1@btinternet.com “All types of Mini (including the modern BMW) are invited to this annual event, so expect displays in all areas of the Museum site. From the oldest to the newest, this year’s event will see some of the earliest examples nestling among hundreds of Minis and their variations including vans and pickups. As always Test Hill will be in action (subject to weather). Did you spot the write up and photos from our region’s Christmas meal in February’s CooperWorld? The Hinton Firs weekend in Bournemouth January 2019 was another great success!. Already looking forward to this social event next year and it will be the 38th consecutive year! For more information contact the organiser: Josh Bromage j-bromage@outlook.com Plans are going ahead for our display of Thames Valley Region cars at the Classic Car Rally at the Popham Airfield on the 6th May 2019. If you would like to join in then please contact Ken Hunter. Classic shape Minis only. Regulations and entry form are now available for our summer run – The Thames Valley Tour 2019 on the 28th July. The event has no competitive element, and is intended as an opportunity for you to drive your pride and joy through the picturesque Thames Valley for a distance of about 85 miles. If you weren’t already aware then this year is the Mini’s 60th anniversary and many clubs and enthusiasts will be marking and celebrating this various ways. The MCR are proposing a display of cars in conjunction with the National Motor Museum’s Beaulieu Spring Autojumble over the weekend of 18th – 19th May 2019. We are looking to put on a display of 60 cars to cover the entire range of Mini production models spanning 1959 – 2000. If you are interested, please email your details with a description of your car to John Parnell: minisixty2019@talktalk.net The MCR’s National Mini Day at Beaulieu is on the 9th June. There will be a celebration of the 60th Anniversary of the Mini with a display of 60 Minis. If you are considering entering the Concours then you are advised to book early. There will be the usual line up of Competition and ex-works cars. A large number of specialist Mini traders are expected as well as the unique trunk trading area. The ticket line is now open for advance tickets. The itinerary and cost for next year’s Minis to Ireland is now in the latest CooperWorld. This time the southern part of Ireland will be explored from the 20th to 27th September. For further details see the full advert in CooperWorld. Entries opened on the 1st December on a first come first served basis with just 40 places available but there is a waiting list if all places are filled.
