This is a gruelling reliability rally run from Land’s End to John O Groats. The whole rally has to be completed and every timed section must be driven without missing any controls, route checks or tests. It has the reputation of being one of the hardest historic rallies to compete in. You must read Kevin’s account of how he and Ryan triumphed in this rally in their Cooper S. A remarkable achievement in my view. Then we have the last chapter of Richard Pengelly’s and Ian Beaton’s three part in depth look at the fuel injection systems of SPi and MPi Rover Minis. In their concluding chapter they deal with the vagaries of getting SPi and MPi cars through the MOT test which includes testing for emissions. If you are one of the many owners of one of these cars and you want to get your car through an MOT to be able to drive it on the road, then this chapter is an absolute must read. As most of you will be aware, we have had a club display stand at the Classic Motor Show held at the NEC for more years than I can remember. Geoff Bethel has been heading up the team that have, in the last three years or so, been putting together our club stand at the show. However, Geoff did also have a stint in helping to put together displays in the past, and I have only found this out by the fact that he has written a great article on our club’s history in relation to this show going back to the late 1980s! Have a read of his article and look at some photos of the amazing MCR display stands that were built over the years. There is another club event that has been going for about as long as the NEC show and that is the MCR Bournemouth Weekend, which has now been held each year in January for 43 years! Kim Bromage has been heading up an organising team in the last few years to make it an enjoyable social gathering for all members to participate in. Kim has kindly written an article on this year’s weekend which I would urge you to read and get inspired to join in the fun next year. Paul Sulma - Editor CooperWorld
